Player versus Player

                                 ◇

Everything is in motion, constantly pushing forward.
Sometimes so fast it makes you dizzy.
So fast that looking back only gives you a distorted image.
I wanted to stop time. Wanted to hold the moment tight forever, fully aware that it could slip past in two or three breaths.
You were running, sometimes faster than time itself, and I stood still, hoping to outsmart it.
But time can't wait, for no one, just like you.
You absorbed everything so intensely as if there were no tomorrow, like an obsession and I was overwhelmed and needed a break from it all.

I tried to understand, to dig myself into you, as deeply as possible, as intensely as necessary.
But no chance.

It’s just a game, isn’t it?
A tug-of-war, probably.
If I loosen my grip, you drag me across the ground with ease. If I pull too hard, you let go in shock, and so it goes back and forth.
Until someone gives up or collapses from exhaustion.

Or is it hide-and-seek?
Who is hiding from whom, who is searching, who doesn’t want to be found at all?
Maybe I hid too well, or maybe you’re not looking for me anymore.

We can try Roulette for sure, do you like it? But player, you must decide: Red or black? Am I the dice or the Croupier? What's your stake? Faites vos jeux!

No matter how you play it, no matter which game you choose–
we'll play until the very end, but like some players, you may become addicted– just like me.

So, another round?                      Because you know, I simply can’t stop.  I can't give up, I can't lose this game. I deserve the prize, don't I?-Jane
